The earliest Venetian First Rates had displacement about 1700 tons, and increased c. 1690 to 1750 tons. The First Rates displacement had increased again around 1710 to c.1800 tons, then c. 2000 tons for the last eleven built between 1746-1797. The standard First Rates armament was composed of 20 pdrs (Venetian libbre) guns on lower deck, 14 pdrs on upper deck, 12/9 pdrs on quarter deck. Since 1695 till 1710 there were usually 30 pdrs on lower deck (sometimes 40 pdrs or even few 50 pdrs). From 1711 the First Rates armament was standardized with 50 pdrs on lower deck if flagship, 40 pdrs others and 30 pdrs on upper deck with 12-14 pdrs on quarterdeck.
