Nautilus was purchased for $18,763 (B044)

 

Lieutenant James Decatur was killed on August 3rd 1804 while commanding Gunboat #2 in an attack on Tripoli, three of the Nautilus' seamen and a marine were wounded. (B052)

 

Lieutenant Commander Richard Somers was killed on September 4th 1804 while commanding the schooner Intrepid in an attack on Tripoli. Four seamen from the Nautilus were also killed. (B052)

 

Nautilus was the first vessel lost by either side in the War of 1812.
