General at Sea

A rank equivalent to an Admiral.

Holders of this rank were also Commisioners of the Navy. This rank exists during the period of the Commonwealth and during the Protectorate, it was introduced when the rank of Lord High Admiral was put into commission and replaced by a commitee of three Commissioners of the Navy, the Generals at Sea formed this commitee.
