The island of Menorca had changed control over the history.

 

until 1708
1713-1756
1756-1763
1763-1781
1781-1798
1798-1802
1802 & after

 

Spain lost Menorca in 1708, under british control in 1713-1756, 1763-1781 & 1798-1802.

Was under french control between 1756 and 1763.

Spain recovered between 1781 and 1798, and finally in 1802.

During british control, a naval base was built in Mahon.
