(2) During the night from 27th to 28th of September 1778, the count d'Amblimont heard at about 20 guns shots and chased to the direction. At dawn, the 28th, he discovered the "Saint Pierre of Liverpool" a corsair armed with 22 guns. This ship had taken a 800 tonneaux merchant ship, arriving from east indies. Monsieur d'Amblimont took the two and went to l'Orient.

(4) The Chevalier de Retz was wounded in the action

(5) As arriving near Fort-Royal of la Martinique, a convoy, accompanied by the French frigate Aurore is chased by 14 enemy ships of the line. With only 3 ships of the line (Annibal, Vengeur, Réfléchi – all of 64), La Motte-Piquet sails from the harbor (his broad pennant on the Annibal)and engages 7 british ships, while the rest of the english ships chases the convoy. La Motte-Piquet could not prevent them to take some vessels of the convoy.

(6) battle opposing the French fleet under the Count de Guichen, Lieutenant Général des Armées Navales to the Admiral George Brydges Rodney. The Vengeur was part of the white and blue squadron commanded by the count de Sades, chef d'escadre;
