Actions & Battles

1762-jun-06 2nd Battle of La Habana

Notes

Was built using timber alredy cut from Autran's plans, but with Jorge Juan's system, so it was a mixture, resulting a smaller ship than what was expected.

(1) Only 5 ships transported 2 batallions of infantry (from Aragon's 2nd & España's 2nd regiments) with a total of 1,439 men, to Santiago de Cuba, Puerto Rico and finally La Habana.

These men were distribuited as follows; Tigre 233, Asia 245, Soberano 313, Aquilon 327 and Vencedor 321. Conquistador was loaded with mercury (azogues) for Veracruz.

From the 1,439 troops that left Cadiz, 68 died in the trip, 150 were deployed at Puerto Rico & 225 at Santiago de Cuba, so 996 arrived to the final destiny, La Habana (b196, s2).

(2) Conquistador left the fleet at cape St. Antonio, Cuba, to Veracruz, before arriving to La Habana.
