FRANCE

French Royal Navy flag (1638 till 1790-oct-24 & 1814-1830) French Republic flag, Tricolore (1790-oct-25 till 1813 & after 1830)

French ships will be refered by HMXMS - His Most Christian Majesty's Ship - before ship´s name (Le Vaisseau de sa Majeste Tres Chretienne).

Of course, this title was changed in the Republic years by FNS - French National Ship (Le Navire de la Marine Nationale) - or HFIMS - His French Imperial Majesty´s Ship - but we are not going to use them to do not abuse of abbreviations. These prefixes will distinguish same ship´s name from different nations and government warships from pivateers or privately-owned merchantmen. We will use the X for Christian (Xtian), instead of the C, to make it easy to distinguish from the spanish's abbreviation (Catholic, HCMS).
