Battle of Fehmarnbelt

April 24th 1715

 

 

This battle took place on 24 April 1715 during the Great Northern War. It was a victory for a Danish squadron under Gabel, which captured five of the six Swedish ships under Wachtmeister at the cost of 65 dead and 220 wounded. Details of Swedish losses: Nordstjernan (aground anbd captured), Princessa Hedvig Sophia (aground next day, captured and scuttled), Soedermanland (aground, captured next day), Hvita Oernen (captured), Falken (aground, captured next day)
